This is a personal project called My Podcast Doodle Series. Each week, I listen to different podcast episodes and draw what I hear. I hit play and let my imagination loose to draw and stop when the episode ends. There is no planning involved other than grabbing a piece of paper and my favorite black pens and I doodle away. This is drawing improv! So much of my role as a creative professional involves lots of creative planning: calculated pixels and pre-mediated scenes—leaving little room for spontaneity. This 'drawing improv' exercise allows me to focus on just the opposite: the lack of planning, living in the moment, and doodling away.
